Dear Shaler Area families:
Earlier today, Governor Tom Wolf directed all K-12 schools in the commonwealth to extend their closure for the next two weeks or through April 6. Given this declaration and the fact that it would resume classes during Shaler Area’s previously scheduled spring break, we will make the following changes to our district schedule:
ALL Shaler Area School District buildings, fields, and facilities will remain closed through Monday, April 13.
Spring break will be Thursday, April 9, through Monday, April 13.
Classes will resume for Shaler Area students on April 14 unless another extension is necessary.
With the extension of the school closure, Shaler Area will transition to remote learning options for students beginning Monday, March 30. The district is finalizing its continuity of education plan for students K-12. Shaler Area families will receive additional information regarding remote learning on Wednesday, March 25.
Home Internet Service
If you or any family you know does not have access to internet at their home, there are a number of free or reduced cost options available through multiple providers. More information on these programs is available on our site: http://www.sasd.k12.pa.us/COVID-19.aspx.
To help our families stay informed, we will continue to share relevant information and resources on our website: http://www.sasd.k12.pa.us/COVID-19.aspx. Please continue to use this site as a resource during this closure.
The safety and security of our students is our number one priority. We also emphasize that family always comes first, especially in the midst of these challenging and turbulent times. Please know that we recognize the challenges many families are facing, and we are here to support you and will do whatever we can to meet the needs of our community. Please stay safe and healthy, and as always, thank you for your patience and understanding during this difficult time.
