ReImagine Appalachia

ReImagine Appalachia

With the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill making its way through Congress, our federal representatives are making once-in-a-generation decisions that will dictate the future of Appalachia. All infrastructure is local, and as we have seen recently, local officials struggle first-hand with the devastating impact of catastrophic weather events, aging infrastructure, failing electric grids, absentee corporations, and declining tax bases. The dignity and safety of the people of Appalachia is at stake.

That is why over 100 local elected officials have endorsed the Appalachia Climate Infrastructure Plan. When communities suffer, local government bears the brunt. These leaders know that we need to think big and take advantage of this immense opportunity before us.

Local elected officials are standing up for their communities and demanding climate-forward infrastructure investments. From clean energy to reclaiming minelands, from main street to industry, officials need federal funding to create local ownership and shared prosperity. Workers and resources from Appalachia have powered the American economy for more than a century, and we need our due share of federal investment.

The latest infrastructure news in Washington is exciting news for our country - but these electeds know that local communities need to be at the table to make sure these resources create lasting change where we live. We hope you’ll join us to hear how local elected officials are coming together to advocate for these ambitious investments.
