A MESSAGE FROM MAYOR BRIAN SPOALES

In regards to the flooding in Millvale on July 5, 2018

Dear Community of Millvale

As we are all aware we were hit this morning with flash flooding in various locations here in Millvale. From the initial review of the town we have numerous areas with flooded basements along with streets containing mud and debris that various volunteer fire departments and emergency management teams are helping to clear up with minimal damage to roads and infrastructures.

If you have flooding in your home and basement please contact 911 direct in order for your location to be put on the list that needs attention.

Electric Update: Duquesne Light is working on restoring power throughout the town, and based on recent discussions with them and our Fire Chief, the anticipation time for full power being restored should be soon. Once we have an update from Duquesne Light we will do our best to get the word to the community.

I am asking that in the low-lying areas along the creek bed that if you are available please check in on your neighbors and if any assistance is needed please call 911 immediately.

We also have the Millvale Community Center open as a cooling center with drinks and food being delivered throughout the day…. please take advantage if needed. The Red Cross has also delivered Sanitation Buckets and Hygiene packets. Those can be picked up at the Fire Department.

The volunteer Fire Departments, Police and the Department of Public Works will continue to monitor the cleanup of our town.

I have also been questioned on what to do with the weekly trash pickup as folks in the community are hearing that Waste Management will be dropping off dumpsters at strategic locations in town. Normal trash pickup will take place on Saturday due to the holiday this week, and the Dumpsters that will be brought into town sometime tomorrow are to be used for residents who have to clean up their basement and have large items to discard.

Thank you to our police, fire department and Department of Public Works, along with all the surrounding agencies for your help and aid in our time of need.

Mayor Brian Spoales
