Pride Millvale 2021
Join us Saturday June 26th, 2021 starting at 12PM for the first ever PRIDE right here in MILLVALE! This will be a day long celebration of the LGBTQIA+ community. We cannot wait to show support, acceptance, and LOVE for our gay, trans, poc, and marginalized folx within the queer community. This event aims at highlighting Millvale’s “safe spaces and faces”, showcasing the businesses and organizations within our town and surrounding areas that value diversity and work hard at nourishing inclusive environments for all that come through-- all while standing in solidarity with LGBTQIA+ youth and adults both near and far!
We have a plethora of exciting events planned for you-- eeeek we cannot wait!! From youth and family activities, to local LGBTQIA+ non-profits/organizations (many we will be naming and thanking for their support in the days to come), resource connecting, and more fun things that we have in store, it's definitely gonna be a day of just pure happiness!
As you have seen, the businesses within our business district that will be participating in the event will have either a Progress Pride Flag or the original Rainbow Flag hanging outside-- not only highlighting that they are part of the event but that they are supportive of the LGBTQIA+ community. Beyond that there are so many amazing shenanigans happening at these places; live music, food, drink specials, an art fair, painting, games, giveaways, performances from queer artists-- jeez, this only names a few! It’s really mind boggling how much will be going on, woot woot. We are so thankful for the participants!!
Education and resource connecting (like we mentioned above) are huge components to our day. As we said, several local organizations who have a history of supporting the LGBTQIA+ community will be present, passing out information, education, and offering resources to those that might not have known about them before or to those who are in need of them. We are thankful, too, for their participation and support of this day!
Listen, SAFETY is our number one priority during the event; hate will not be welcomed here. Period. This day is all about love and having a welcoming environment so if this isn’t your cup of tea mooooove along!
We also will be strictly adhering to the CDC and Health Department Guidelines that are in affect June 26th. Make sure to bring a mask with you as businesses have their own rules when it comes to mask wearing. All of our activities will be appropriately socially distanced as to not cause huge influxes of people in one area. Just please me mindful! There are folx who either haven’t gotten vaccinated yet, are still at risk, or are youth that we need to protect!
Lastly, we have such gratitude for the support we have received thus far. There has been such a whirlwind of positivity surrounding this event it’s quite beautiful and it’s all happening because of YOU!
