Property Nuisance Violation Tickets Issued - New for 2021

In September of 2020, Millvale Borough Council passed Ordinance No. 2801, concerning Property Nuisance Violations.

In the past, Code Enforcement has sent warning letters to property owners regarding such items as high grass, or refuse being left out on non-refuse collection days.

Often times, letters would go unanswered and the Property Nuisance Violations would be ignored - leading to escalating circumstances up to and including court dates, and large fines.

Millvale Borough has enacted the ability for Code Officers to issue a Property Nuisance Violation ticketing program, in which property owners in violation would be required to pay a small fine within 10 days, or face court dates and further fines. Property owners should still take action to remedy the initial violation within 72 hours.

In an effort to protect the health, safety, and general welfare of Borough residents and their guests, as well as Borough property values, Council desires to amend its Property Maintenance Code and implement an ordinance providing for the issuance of tickets, citations, and penalties to owners or occupiers of properties that are not appropriately maintained, in a timely manner, for property nuisance violations.

As of May 2021, Code Enforcement will be actively issuing tickets to properties in violation.

Fines can be paid via:

  • US Mail (501 Lincoln Ave, Millvale, PA 15209)
  • In person (cash/check/money order/credit cards accepted for a small fee)
  • Online (credit cards/e-check - fees apply)
