BOROUGH OF MILLVALE RECIEVES $703,525 PENNVEST GRANT
|
|
The Borough of Millvale is pleased to announce that it has received a grant from PENNVEST for $703,525. Grant funds will be used to plant:
|
- 50 two inch caliper shade treesin bioretention beds and enhanced swaes in Borough parking lots.
|
- 300 two inch caliper shade and utility compatible trees along streets and in parks throughout the Borough.
|
- 150 of the 300 trees will be planted in newly constructed street tree pits.
|
- 500 restoration size trees planted in open space within the Borough.
|
|
The Borough Millvale partnered with TreeVitalize to submit and implement the PENNVEST grant. TreeVitalize Pittsburgh is a joint project of Allegheny County, the City of Pittsburgh, Tree Pittsburgh, the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy (WPC).
PENNVEST is funding the project through a combination of state funds approved by voters, federal grants to PENNVEST from the Environmental Protection Agency and recycled loan repayments from previous PENNVEST funding awards.
The Borough of Millvale, TreeVitalize Pittsburgh and WPC plan to begin the project in February of 2012 with planting being completed by the fall of 2013.
Millvale Borough thanks, PENNVEST, TreeVitalize Pittsburgh, the WPC, Allegheny County, Congressman Mike Doyle, State Representative Dom Costa and State Senator Jim Ferlo.

| TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS |

Route 28 - Troy to 31st project -
|
|
Be advised that nightly traffic control measures to restrict SR28 Southbound to a single (11 ft) lane 8pm - 5am, Monday - Friday. Long term implementation of traffic control to restrict SR28 Northbound to a single (11 ft) lane and SR28 Southbound to two (11 ft) lanes These long term restrictions will remain in effect until February 2014.

Additionally, the 31st Bridge to SR 28 which has been closed for the previous projects will remain closed throughout the duration of this project and is expected to be re-opened in September 2014.
